End of Siding Spring Survey

I heard today that Rob McNaught's Uppsala telescope, and with it the Siding Spring Survery, has been turned off and closed for the last time. This is VERY sad news.

Does anyone have any more information?

I believe that the cameras have been packed and returned the states.

Guess we'll have to rely on OS data and science. Apparently our (govt/ANU) bean counters don't think there are enough beans to maintain an observatory smaller than some amateurs have.

Too late to complain -it's gone.
