Polar Alignment Issue

I was tweaking the polar alignment on my Paramount ME (with a 14" Meade OTA) when I noticed, looking north, with the scope on the west side of the mount, the stars were slowly drifting east, no north / south drift. When looking east, there was no drift in any direction.

After several intergrations of looking north and east, there was still some east drift when looking north.

The scope seemed to be balanced and there are no cable snags.

Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

Brendan

Do you have Tpoint? If so, do a polar alignment run and see what the Polar alignment report says. Then after you have done a large model, you can activate Tpoint to take care of tube flexure related non sidereal tracking rates.

Mirror shift? Imbalance? Cable drag? Moun badly levelled (I don't think its a requirement for the mount to be perfectly level but it can'hurt).

Hi All

The amount is level. I had the understanding the mount doesn't need to perfectly level, but it does make life easier.

I rebalanced the mount and checked the cables and all is ok.

I do have tpoint but never got round to using it until last night.
I need to read the manual.
