Fixable electronics gaff?
I'm rapidly running out of HD space again on my laptop, so I plugged one of the 3 external HDD's in to transfer a couple hundred gigs to storage.
Now, recall I need to wear new glasses...
Well, I plugged in the wrong power cable - either wrong polarity or wrong voltage because it spun up really fast and then pop...and that woeful acrid smell of a burnt out something.
If I can't get my electronical mojo happening or that of my electronical electrickem mate, can anything be done to recover the terabytes of stuff? It's a WD Book. Can the HDD itself be unmounted like a regular HDD and installed into a Desktop to transfer?
