This is a very significant discovery and not just some galactic art installation.
It has been conjectured for a while that super-massive black holes
at the core of a galaxy are strongly correlated with galaxy formation
but a Taiwanese team using ALMA earlier this year concluded there was
none.
However, this more recent discovery, using ALMA and MUSE, looks like
what astronomers have been looking for. There had even been some
computer modelling theorizing it recently.
So here we have a super-massive black hole doing what had been predicted
including with molecule formation. Possibly even creating molecules such as water.
So if this type of mechanism ends up being common in most galaxies,
it could well be one more piece of the puzzle as to why we are all here.
