I've heard many people say that telescopes are like golf clubs. If you can't play a round of golf with one club then one telescope isn't enough to cover all targets.
Here is my heavily cropped short game of NGC 7424 from the point of view of my Esprit 100ED (9 iron). A bigger version is on
astrobin but please don't look too closely. Clearly a 2 wood is needed here. I've seen some nice examples of other targets recently with a certain IIS member showing great results with a 254mm carbon fibre Newtonian astrograph which has much more reach than my Esprit. Does anyone have any experience (positive or negative) of a Newtonian of that size on a Sky-Watcher EQ6-R mount or similar?
