I’m a little confused with the title. Is it literally for written signs or a reaction (signs) of the times, like for instance someone cooking while texting on their mobile phone?
Trying to stay on topic, thanks
yep. what lewis said.
Not literally intended (only) for physical signs, but always knew these would play a part in the interpretations. especially funny ones like RB posted.
But the photo I am working on does not have a sign in it.
And I like your interpretation Suzy.
something that is typical of the nature or quality of today, typically something undesirable.
something that shows the way the world is changing.
Something that shows what life is like now.
something that shows the kinds of things that are happening, popular, important, etc., in our culture now, that wouldn't have been happening in the past.
Something regarded, usually negatively, as emblematic of the current time period.
EXAMPLE
(as indicated by Suzy in earlier post)
Nobody looks up from their mobile phones anymore.
The topic was purposely intended to be ambiguous to allow for artistic interpretation (as Lewis said)
So it could also include an actual sign that also fulfils the above definitions.
Wasn't around when I was growing up....!! ( there was no need for them.... everybody could pay their power bill )
Exorbitant Power Bills Today ...
Sign of the Times...!!
Is this your entry Col?
If so its in the wrong thread.
...and I certainly agree they are a sign of the times.
