Explore Scientific telescopes, where to buy ?

Hi,

Where would be the best place to buy ES telescopes in Australia ? Online / In store
I'm particularly looking at APO triplets. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Vin

I know of just one place here in Oz. It's an Ebay store too. I've bought a number of items from Silvan. Very helpful.

Thanks Alex, did check the store they had only one ES telescope in stock.

Jeremy, I want the telescope to have a FCD100 or FPL-53 optics. I had a look at the 80 ED Esprit and felt it was a bit on the heavier side.

Caleb, myastroshop and siderealtrading are two places which sell the scope you're interested in but rebranded as Saxon.

You don't necessarily need a triplet though. There are cheaper good options for imaging.

SkyWatcher Evostar ED72 is an apochromatic refractor with 72mm diameter and 420mm focal length (f/5,8), doublet ED apochromatic lens with Schott FPL-53 glass.

the Esprit 120 is

3-Element Objective Lens, Focal Length 840mm (one Ohara FPL-53 and 2 x Schott lenses)

So ???????

APO triplets with ED, FPL51 or FPL53 glass are all heavy.

Check the (extensive) range at https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop...Refractor.html

- look for the triplets - and check their mass. The ES equivalent scopes will be quite similar mass.

I'd also suggest that if you are aiming to do AP buy one with a built-in flattener - ie a quad or 5-element scope, the result is better than starting wth a triplet and adding a generic flattener.

FWIW I have a 70mm quad flat-field APO, and yes its quite a hefty little beast.
