Filter for protecting the camera sensor?

Hi All,

I've read some article online about when taking photos via telescope it is better to have a filter in between in order to prevent the dust from telescope goes to the sensor/camera.

Can anyone please tell me what kind of filter should I use?

Thanks

David,
I don't use any "protection" filters - the less you have in the optical path the better....
BUT, if you really feel the need, then a UV-IR filter or plain glass filter would do the job.

What sort of camera - a DSLR? You can get clip in filters from Astronomiks for Canon DSLRs. Astronomy CCD cameras have a chamber window already as the sensor is in its own air proof housing with a window.

David as Ken mentioned it is not really necessary just to avoid a little dust, a periodic blower and clean would take care of any dust.
