Comet Lovejoy & the Pleiades setting over Wiruna

It's been a while since I have posted an image. So here is my token Comet Lovejoy & the Pleiades shot.

This one was taken early Saturday morning on the 17th of Jan from Wiruna. Shot at 70mm, it is a stack of 4 x 5 minute exposures. The image gives you a sense of the scale of Lovejoy's tail which stretches well past the Pleiades.

My only regret was not planning this a bit better so I could capture the California Nebula in the image as well.

For a higher res version, click here to see it on my flickr page.

As always, feedback is appreciated.

Cheers all and have a great Australia Day weekend

Jason

Cheers Marc, yes it does. Wish we got more time to image it.

On a side note, I just realised this image made Explore on flickr. Pretty happy about that, first time one of my images has made it. Explains the crazy amount of views and likes its been getting compared to my other images.

That is a good image. I imaged it also the other night with a similar framing from my back deck. That tail is very long indeed.

Greg.

Beautiful image. The composition and framing give it just that extra touch of magic that all your wide field images seem to have. Well done.

Thanks Greg, wish I could have oriented the camera around to get all the tail.
