Late Season Orion

HI All

Its been a long time between drinks, I think my last imaging session was November, Im surprised I even remembered how to set up

Anyway, I managed to get out out north for a few hours over the weekend, all the prediction websites said I might get a few good hours but they all lied and it was crystal clear all night.

I think this was my last chance to catch Orion this season, I managed about 2 hours total as it was starting to set.

Switched to Carina after that as a bit of fun, it was in a more light polluted part of the sky but the night was still young and I wasn't ready to pack it in just yet, just under an hour on Carina. I think my focus was a little soft after moving the scope but its my best effort yet.

Last one is just a little pic of my setup for giggles.

Thanks for looking.

Regards
Chris

I love the nebulosity you've pulled out of M42 Chris. Looks like some internal reflection going on there in your image train?
The pic of your setup with Milky Way background is very cool also.
Cheers,
Tony

Did you use a star mask when stretching Carina? I think the stars look a bit bright and overpowers the detail you've managed to collect in the nebula.

You've captured some nice faint details in the M42 image, I like it!
Nice set-up!

Thanks Tony, yeah I noticed the internal reflection (rainbow) when I was editing, I think it came from old mate in the next paddock hunting rabbits and his spotty passed over my scope a few times during the night.

Hi Nathan, no star mask or anything fancy on Carina, just a quick stretch and basic edit.

Opinions please all, Iv had another little go at Carina to try and lower the impact of the stars. Is it good, bad or ugly?

Regards
Chris
