canon 40d or

I want to step in to astrophotograghy.My son wants to get in to close up bug insect photography.I really dont want to buy 2 cameras .What is the canon 40d unmoded like for astro. Any advise would help heaps....

Yes indeed the 40D is well suited for both macro insect and astro imaging.
For astro, any of the current Canon DSLRs will produce lovely images but you'll need a decent mount and set it up right to get things working well.

As John said it does get expensive, it all depends on your expectations and your budget.
