Solar Prominence

Hi All

Having seen the latest SOHO images and reading Merlin66s' heads up as well, I tried to get some video and stack some frames. Exactly when the coastal cloud decided to play games with Sol, so the results are pretty bad as the cloud passing disturbed the seeing, which is never very stable during the day anyway.
As well as some large proms a bit faint for the camera there is also an small active region, as yet unnumbered. The results don't do the visual view justice unfortunately.

A lot better than anything solar I've ever done Jeff. Are you using a solar filter or are these from a solar scope?

They were taken with an Ha solar scope, a PST conversion. Not a white light filter.

Thanks Ken, they're pretty ordinary images due to the seeing but with solar minima well and truly set in , any activity is noteworthy it seems and still impressive to look at. Now that the AR has been numbered it will be interesting to follow it and see if it develops into anything more substantial.
