First time M42

Finally M42 came up at a decent time, clearing the trees.
So Friday night, after 10pm I started for the first time on M42.
Stellarium was used for the first time to slew to the target which worked very well.
I know it is not the best as I didn't use the correct ISO. Many mistakes were made.
But when the first image came in on APT after 180s, I was stoked.

Details:
Mount: SW HEQ5 Pro
Scope: SW ED80 600/80
Camera: Canon EOS M6 m2
Guide camera: ZWO ASI120MM mini on ZWO OAG
Capture software: APT
Guiding software: PHD2
Staking software: DSS
Processing software: Photoshop
Subs: 10 x 180s @ ISO250, 1 x 120s @ ISO400, 1 x 60s @ ISO800, including darks for ISO250.

when you start stacking 50 x 180 and 50 x 120 and 50 x 30 seconds and combine them you'll really start to see some wonderful results, a fine first effort

Beautiful, has a real clarity to it, and totally avoids a cartoonish feel. Looking forward to seeing how more data plays out!

Nice work, the best thing about M42 is even a picture we take that we don't like is still very good!

Great work there Wilco,

I too get that WOW moment when the first image comes through.

All that work that you do, get everything lined up, but to see that first image come through, i think and hope the satisfaction and awe never goes
away.

Well done.
