My try ay Omega C

I am inspired by the recent amazing omega c photo so last night I tried.
This was from 12 second captures at 1600 iso. 80mm espirt with the recently completed "dark tube" (a baffed dew tube extension to minimise the street light across the road. Its cropped and small but I wanted to see how it looked posted.

Alex, good to see you got inspired. You've done well with short exposures to get a result, I reckon just bring back the red a bit to let the other colours come through and it wll look a lot cleaner. At least you haven't overcooked the core!

Thanks Michael I had a blast last night ..back in the light poluted sky in Sydney after three weeks in my cloud filled dark sky location ...so I photographed everything I could notice in the guide scope but was happy to find I could get omega c if only for a couple of minutes and not get the gutter on the house...

Still sorting stuff but so good to capture a few objects.

Just to have a clear sky was so good.

That's presenting quite a nice "3D" effect to me - nice one.

As to colour.
Unforntunately I am colour blind so my processing goes to bringing out detail which can create strange colours...however I think there is little colour to find which may be short exposures ... I am still playing around with a mount that I can not align. .its close but not perfect yet...I built a dedicated scope with illuminated reticle just to do polar , I used a sorry old 80 mm as I can leave it outside ...I can go out for 20 minutes and dial it in cause its not a worry if it gets rainef on approach.
But handy rather than usine good scopes and getting close but still not perfect....its really hard at my age it is such a challenge both physical and mental. Add my legs on fire roll your eyes back in your head annoyance it really is so hard...

I slept till 11 am because the effort was so great for poor old me.

So you young folks dont put it off...old age really limits what you can do...dont wait to get that astro stuff you want now..life ends well before you die...because of old age stuff..
Go for it but if in a relationship spend the same as you do on astro stuff for your partners hobby..
It just means ylur $2000 scope really will cost $4000 but thats the price so pay it and get there.

Good job Alex; I wondered what was going on with some of your images,
didn't know you were colour blind.

The good thing is I dont notice, what cries out to you I may not see... but as I said if you dont worry about the colour you can ring out detail, in my view, and I think unless my daughter is guiding me I am best processing getting the detail and then turning the saturation down so it becomes back and white..I feel sorry for those who have to rely on colour
I have to work with my disability what else can I do?

Keep at it Alex,
You certainly set the bar for persistence and genuine desire to achieve in this awesome pastime. From what you have described you are up against the odds but never cease to stop having a go.
Nice work Al, throw in another 20 or so subs and you will see a big difference!
Clear skies your way and power to you.

Nice work, Alex. Some nice details there.

If you ever feel like trying PixInsight it has a photometric colour calibration process that does a good job with RGB images. No need to get the colour right visually

Cheers,
Rick.

Unfortunately the view is for only about 20 minutes..the house is in the way..but I am getting a quote to move the house....

As I said last night was if I could see it in the finder scope I took a snap.
Mainly getting a feel for iso and the gear generally.

The guy next door was triming his lawn or something up to 10.30 with lights on...so you need to keep cool and not run over and rip his face off and stapple it to his back side...which did not cross my mind at all.

Here its a game...gets me out of the house onto the patio...and the other guy drives his car to his parking spot that baths me in light which is so handy to see if you have any spots on your scope...all good...and I have not upped either of these folk when once it really could have been so unplesant for them and the police and ambulance folk called to attend to carry away the bodies.

I am at peace the city does not upset me...all city folk are wonderful and I love them.

Alex, you've certainly got to have a sense of humour in this game and yours is a beauty! Love that commentary. We may complain about the neighbours sometimes but they think we're all lunies pottering around the yard at ungodly hours making strange beeping sounds and high revving motors buzzing with red lights flashing on our heads. It would be interesting hearing their impressions of us! It takes all kinds to make this world an interesting place.

Might be this one?

It seems to degrade somewhere on the download.

I dont know anymore.
But this one was a huge number of short captures 200+ and I tried a bit of process in pixinsite and later in gimp.
All the center was gone but I seemed to get it back I just hope it comes out better than the last.

It was amazing what Deep Sky Stacker handled.
The camera was in two different positions.and the object had drifted a fair bit...so it was al over the place...I put the camera on upside down somehow in the dark..for me..anyways maybe 100 are one way and the others130 are upside down I think.
But it did it about 4 hours grunting.

Thanks Peter.
Thanks JA.
Off center came from a funny crop of stuff left over from the upside down stacking ..the right side was most troubled.
