M8

M8. Taken last weekend with ASI071MC-cool @-5C, on 8" F5 newt
19x5min subs, guiding PHD2. Captured with sharpcap, stacked in DSS (flats/darks) & processed/cropped in startools.

Luvin it. But all I've used before is my modded 550D and a bunch of 1/3" sensors that I've been using for live imaging (10-60sec long subs).

I'm going to go back and use the 550D for a while (it is being neglected) for comparison.

I suspect that the difference between them in winter might be less than in summer when the cooled 071 would clearly be the winner.

Nice looking M8, Chris. Good star colour and some nice detail. The pinks in the neb look like they might be a little posterised, but it could just be the jpg compression.

Posterised, that's sounding very Andy Warhol. I get what you mean. It might be the jpeg.
