Shapley 3

Here's another planetary nebula from the small Shapley catalog which only has three members in it. The best known is Shapley 1 which was recently imaged by Mike. Shapley 3 is only about half the size of Shapley 1 and Shapley 2 is even smaller.

Cheers

Steve

Delicate. Nicely done - a real technical challenge.

Looks like a Faberge egg nested within an egg.

Thanks M&T. Wasn't that much of a challenge. Had good seeing for the most part.

Interesting. Given the red colour, was there little OIII present after 330min..? Sakib was trying to get me to image the other Shapley's too, are you planning on doing the other one?

Nice work Steve, these little blighters are fun to image

Thanks Mike. Seems to be predominantly Ha this one. I'm tentatively planning to go for Shapley 2 tonight unless someone invites me to a state of origin party which doesn't seem likely at this stage.

Nice one, Steve! Sakib has our SRO scope working part time on CTA1. It is incredibly dim but has a bright planetary in the field that looks a bit like that.

Thanks Andy. Glad you liked it. No state of origin invitation so I've just started on Shapley 2. In all honesty I don't much care who wins originally coming from an Australian Rules state. I just go along for the social aspects.

Nice one Steve,Love your PN pics.
Try for Longmore 1 when it comes around again.
It's big but faint.
I have looked for it in the 16" but no luck as it is very tenuous.
Cheers
