Question Advice Needed

Would it be possible to turn this camera into an imaging device the reason I am looking at this is that I need to get the camera closer to the Secondary mirror for focusing reasons. Any suggestions appreciated this camera is worth $60 which I think is cheaper than any dedicated camera and I am on a shoestring budget.

Yeah you got me it was a stupid question but I am sure that I read on this forum that stupid questions were welcome here. I don't know a lot about the camera except that it is vga cant give MP or any other information it is usb and does video I don't know about stills but it does come with software so it probably does stills that way

Since no one else has jumped in, I would use the $60 to buy beers to while away the time until you can get a decent imaging camera. I think it would be fraught with frustration and a waste of $, but you may surprise me and it be OK for what you want to do???? You might be able to use it with vitualdub to grab videos of VERY bright objects and then convert to BMPs and stack (Registax) but I doubt it.

Thanks for your reply I thought as much but I was hoping. Could you please give me an idea as to an entry level imaging device's cost. I am mainly interested in the moon and planets but I do want to dabble in deep space objects not real faint ones only the brightest

Have you done any research on webcam astro photography? That might be more up your alley budget wise. Phillips Toucam, etc

Yes and I have made a few attempts using the tutorials on this Forum but I am having trouble they seem to work but I cant get them in focus on the planets or stars I can focus on trees reasonably close but any thing in the sky seems to need to focus down further than it will go which is why I was looking at the Snake Cam so I could get further down in the focuser. I was told that I can move the Primary Mirror closer to the Secondary but I am a chicken I don't want to put my only scope out of action.
