M42

It's been so cloudy for so long I've forgotten how to do it!

My first astro image for 2019. M42 The Orion Nebula. A frequent object with past cameras, this is the first time I've imaged M42 with the ASI 183mm Pro.

ZWO ASI 183mm Pro cooled to -10C, LRGB / 45/30/30/30 x 30 seconds or about 1.1 hours with Svbony RGB filter set, GSO 10" F4 Newtonian, HEQ5 Pro unguided.

Thanks Geoff. I find the brown dust has showed up better than images from my DSLR. Possibly due to the lower temperature of the sensor so less noise.

Thanks Mike. I needed a one nighter. Good choice too as it's back to cloudy.

That's amazing dynamic range. You've got the Trap area and its not overexposed at all. Normally you need to blend short and longer exposures with M42 but it seems you just used the 30 second images and it had the full dynamic range of the scene.

Greg.
