A sign of true love?
Came home late last night and was packing up my scope setup leftover from the weekend (it was cloudy in Melbourne) when the following conversation took place:
Wife: you know Jim's place in our street?
Me: Yes?
W: It had a bungalow workshop thingy in the backyard.
M: Right.
W: Just thinking, maybe you get rid of the shed or extend it to put your telescope stuff there permanently.
M: ........
W: It's just a thought, so you should think about it
M: ..... (still trying to pick up my jaws from the floor).
Checked with her again this am, (April 1 today) yes she is serious, yes it will cost money, but we should think about it. Kids growing up, need their own rooms, I should donate my study to them and build my man cave in the backyard.
Man cave: Now that would be a project I can work on.

Well. She is your wife. If it wasn't true love why would you be married to her?
She probably just wants to see you happy. Or have the option of banishing you away some place so she can be left in peace. hmmm

Very funny that his came up at the same time as I am getting the bit between my teeth about building a RORO observatory, with the apparent blessing of my wife.
Wonder if I can get a red light for the bar fridge door so it can go out there.

I suspect you may have more than a postage stamp sized backyard to play with Paul.
Check your email, the e-book is on its way!

Ta, got it.
I live on 44 acres so yeah, I have some room to play with. We are about to fence off the area that I would like to build my obs so the ponies would not have access. We have to put in a couple of permit apps with council to replace stuff lost in the recent fires so now is the time while the permits are running hot.

Shouldn't need a permit for a 'shed' les than 10 x 10 feet ( and another shed next to it for your man things....)

Got my obsy shed at Bunnings - they told me I didn't need planning permission so I checked with a builder and he agreed. (I have two now - one for the mower)

There is no need of man cave, room can be established in shape of cave.

Speaking of man caves, I have recently built an arcade that would be perfect for my future man cave.
If you do decide to go ahead with it, I wish you luck
Also, Welcome Dave!
