Nikon D750 Adaptor kit

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to get your opinion on the best Nikon D750 adaptor kit. I'm intending to try some astrophotography with my 10" DOB. I don't have any go-to mounts, so only large planets and the moon at this stage.

Is this kit good enough or would you recommend something better:

Not sure if its relevant but D750 is the full frame camera.

Thank you

That might work, but I'd say it's unlikely. Most Dobs aren't made for prime focus with a DSLR - you can't get the camera's sensor close enough to the secondary mirror. The extension tunes are the opposite of what you need.

Luckily there's a cheap workaround - a 2X Barlow T-adapter. I used my own D750 with my 8" Dob with just this one:

I got fantastic results on bright subjects like the Moon, the Sun (with a solar filter of course) and the planets. Managed to photograph the ISS!! I'm still pretty chuffed with myself for that effort.

You'll need a Nikon T-ring as well if you don't have one already.

Found a way to attach photos via my phone. These were all through my 8" Dob, with that Barlow adapter and either a D750 or a D600.

And how crazily good is the D750?? Had ours for 18 months and I'm still in love with it!!

Which dob do you have? Some brands can achieve focus with DSLR (I don't have one but some other people would know which brands are OK).

I got t-adapter and barlow. Photos looks good. Optical magnification is on the low side with 2x Barlow. Silly question, what if I use 2 barlows to get better magnification ?
