September Photo Challenge - Entries (Please Post them here)

The Topic this month, thanks to UniPol, is "Old Tools or Machinery"

Note:
* This thread is only for posting your entry, together with any comments/explanation/details you'd like to issue concerning your own photo.
[sometimes this may help sway the judges]
* However, comments on other people's entries, or any "other" shots of your own you'd like to share, should be posted to the Comments and Rejects Thread -> HERE.
* And, it's only one entry (that's just one image) per person (but you can change it out at any time if you get a better one)
* Importantly, the image must be your "own work" and
* all other normal forum rules, and image size limits, apply.

The image doesn't necessarily have to be taken this month, but, unless you live in Melbourne, we encourage you to get out and engage with the challenge. Where recommended "Mask Up" !

In this regard, YES, the image may be one that you have previously posted, unless of course it has already been voted a previous photo challenge winner.

The winner of the public vote, which will be run at the end of the month, will get to choose next month's topic and have their photo immortalised in our "Photo Challenge Hall of Fame".

Good Luck!

These are old-financial tools: Pounds, Shillings and Pence down to my last half penny. The well-worn penny on the top left is dated 1863.

"On the Boards"

Photographed in the old shearing sheds at Alpana Station in the northern Flinders Ranges. The station is visited by members of the Astronomical Society of SA a couple of times each year for 4-5 days/nights of extremely dark and pristine viewing conditions.

McKenzies Old Steam Boiler

This abandoned steam boiler is on beach near McKenzies Jetty Fraser Island, one of the few reminders of the once busy timber centre at McKenzies Jetty. During WW2 the Z Unit special commando training school based on Fraser Island used the old boiler on the beach for limpet mine training.

Old Christie 35mm Cinema projectors.
-----------------

These were removed from the cinema in Devonport, Tasmania when it went digital. You can buy one if you have some old 35mm movie film you'd like to show your friends. :-)

An old monster.

This Dragline originated from the Moe coalfields in Victoria and was later used for surface gold mining in central Victoria. It is now abandon in the bush near Maldon, Victoria. Taken on 16 Sept 2020.

Out of level

This antique spirit level was used by my father during his apprenticeship, and by his father before that. I took it out today and snapped some pics.

Old steam engine

This beautiful old steam engine powered the raising and lowering of London's Tower Bridge for 99 years until 1976.
Taken in 1993 on film. I obviously photographed the photograph to put it onto my laptop.

Ulladulla Lighthouse

Hi everyone

brief info on this lighthhouse.

Warden Head Light, also known as Ulladulla Lighthouse. It is one of only two wrought iron lighthouses in New South Wales.

It is also notable for two relocations, the tower was constructed in 1873 on the Ulladulla Breakwater, and relocated in 1889 to its current location.

Full Wikipedia link here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warden_Head_Light

the lighthouse has been recently restored, and the carpark is now reopen, although the safety railings along the cliff face
have been removed and are being replaced.

Picture taken 25/09/20.

Thanks for looking

Paul.

Quarantine!

I took this a while back at the Point Nepean Quarantine Station, as we are still in hard lock-down in Victoria. It's a luggage decontamination chamber.

I tried a new Dark/Dramatic B&W conversion technique with this image.

Cheers.

The most basic of tools

The most basic and compact of tools for a vertical line at the start of any work or solar measurement , a plumb line . This plumb bob belonged to my parents and has a great knurled brass body and removable top to hold the string with a hard iron point which has weathered over the years. I use it on an ancient dumpy around the yard .
