Canon L lenses

Gday all. I've got a canon 100-400L(made in Japan) lens and seriously love it, so now i'm looking at buying a 100L F2.8 Macro (i'm mad for macro). Here's the question. I want to buy one new of Ebay for around $900 but are ALL the L lenses made in the same factory/country or are there some "cheap" versions i need to look out for, ie made in the Phillipines etc. cheers Mat

No, you don't have to worry about that, unlike Hoya stuff.

L-series are L-series.

Two plugs for my favourite retailers: www.d-d-photographics.com.au and camerapro.net.au

Camera Pro are not grey importers and so their prices are dearer, but, their service is exemplary. Very friendly mob to deal with.

Thanks Humayun, It's good to know there's no cheap knock off's out there. The prices at DDP are very good. I think i'll go that way for piece of mind. Much appreciated.

I have seen first-hand "funny business" by some grey market importers in Australia, e.g. new lenses in boxes that have obviously been opened before, missing warranty cards (wasn't really a problem, and it's now no longer relevant), missing some of the packaging material, or missing date code/serial numbers.

I've never had a problem with the ~ 13 L lenses that I've bought (and later sold) from official distributors over the years.

I thought Canon Australia had stopped honouring international warranty on lenses? (Not sure - I haven't checked in a while.)
