Documentary on the Very Large Telescope Multi Unit Spectroscopic Explorer (MUSE)

MUSE - the Multi-unit spectroscopic explorer - is attached to the VLT in Chile.

It is one of the most sophisticated instruments to be ever attached to a telescope.

Recently it has help make some remarkable discoveries :-

Thanks again Gary

Ye Gods and little fishes !
Just a little spectrograph of untold complexity

The science information they hope to get from this is just mind blowing

I wouldnt have even comprehended that a multispectrograph could yield intricate secrets about the web of extragalactic gas flows within a galaxy !

I wonder when they will put this onto a MEMS chip so mere mortal amateurs might one day gather such info - mind you at 400,000,000 pixel per <minute - it might be beyond our data storage
