Neptune Reappearance

The Moon will occult Neptune tonight.

In the wee-small hours (18:57:30 UT = 4:57:30am for Kuriwa Observatory) Neptune will reappear on the unlit limb. Occult predicts that both contacts will be against Neptune's bright limb and the duration will be 5.3 seconds.

The reappearance is depicted on the MoonMap, and the shadow path is also depicted on the EarthMap - anywhere between the white lines will see the event, between the blue lines in twilight, and the oval over WA means the event will be seen at moon-rise.

SkippySky says I'll have clear skies - WooHoo!

If you want an accurate prediction for you site, send me your coordinates.

Forecast to be completely clouded out in Tas unfortunately. A shame as I was looking forward to observing this event. ☹️

Steve.

Neptune Reappearance - Observed

SkippySky was correct and it was perfectly clear at Kuriwa Observatory.

The observed duration was 4.96 seconds. My light curve is below.

I'll upload a video later today...
