12.0M webcams - any good?

Hi guys

Just trying to get some feedback re the 12 megapixel cams out there. No particular model in mind. Anyone had any experience trying to use one for their capture sessions

Two words come to mind, a large male bovine... and.....rhymes with "it"

I've have a look at these devices and 1280x960 is the true hardware resolution of these systems....yep that's 1.2MP not twelve

But 12mp video from a "webcam" would be impressive....as would be squeezing it down a USB cable

I am running 2MP hi res and my poor Hard Drive was getting too full with such high res. The only concern would be whether exposure is enough for star or nebula viewing, May only get Moon and Jupiter without modding.

Canon do in live view don't they? USB2 is 480Mbs and USB3 should be 10X that but will most likey be limited by the PC's bus speed.
