Takahashi FS 60 IMAGING

Can anyone help me with what connections are needed to image through an FS 60c?
I want to connect a centralds 600d to an FS60C. From the system chart it looks like I need a Camera Angle adjuster, focal reducer and wide T Mount.

The sd ring (TKA 20583) seems optional, but is it necessary? If needed, the other problem is that I cannot see it sold anywhere?

second question, does anyone have a good way to connect an orion mini autoguider to an fs 60? The fs 60c is usually the guidescope itself, so there doesnt seem to be anything on the net on this. The supplied orion connector does not fit in the finderscope ring or holes that are present .

The alternative could be an OAG, has anyone used one on an fs 60 c?

I'm using an NEQ 6 for a mount.

Thanks from Perth

Call AEC. The Tak dealer.

Or, go to USA or Euro Tak dealer websites and download the system chart. Tak are legendary for these charts. Adapters galore

I have been imaging with an FS60CB and a Canon D60a recently. I use the CAA, after the initial adapter, the Flattener rather than the reducer and one of the Tak wide T mounts. I didn't need the optional SD ring.

the flattener works well but I found I needed to back it off the end of the thread to get the spacing just right. Will need to get a little spacer made up but in the meantime I use Sugro to keep it all in place

Try this place for an attachment for the finder guider. Looks like they may have something that would work

Thanks David, I've now got the CAA, flattener, and wide T mount.

Do you have another coupling connector from the flattener to the wide T mount- they both seem to have male threads? This one https://www.astronomics.com/takahash...c78_p3855.aspx says it connects the wide t mount to the flattener. Is this the one?

Thanks for your help
Patrick

Hi Patrick

When I got my Takahashi Wide Tring for the FS60CB, it came with a seperate adapter similar to what you linked to which connects it to the flattener or CAA. The Tring side though is just a flange that is held in place with 3 small grub screws on the Tring itself whilst the other is threaded. I thought that came as standard as the charts don't show a seperate item.Looks like the one you linked to would work though as the Tring is also threaded internally.

Ok I've got the fs 60 C- CAA- Flattener- wide T mount-DSLR, but cant get focus, so looks like I need the SD Ring TKA 20583, which I cant source from anywhere ( wondering if its ceased production).

An alternative would be to get a precise parts made spacer between the CAA and flattener. I have no idea how long it should be to get focus.

Has anyone got experience of this, or had a similar item made by precise parts?

Thanks all

System chart in the link

You should have the TKP0951 (81 Coupling DT in the diagram) in front of the CAA.

It should have come as standard.

Pat ...

I recently bought a FS60CB which came with ' stuff ' I did not use.
I don't do AP... just a ' visual ' person.

Take a look at the pictures and see if you can identify ' maybe ' what your looking for.

The CAA and the Flattner are already sold .... your part could be sitting in these pic's.

If it's there...price wise .... wouldn't have a clue....you offer what it is worth to you.....

Best I can do to help you....

Thanks Col,

in the first picture there is a connector between the scope itself and the Camera Angle Adjuster. Thats the bit that I am missing (I think!).

If you still had it, I'd be intersted to buy from you. I'll pm you.
thanks
Pat

Pat, the part you mention (TKA 20583) is a Step Down ring, are you sure that is what you need.
The one that is attached to the draw tube in Col's picture before the CAA is the FS60 Coupling DT also known as TKA20006B which is an 18mm long extension ring with the same thread at both ends. It is standard on all FS60CB scopes.
Your FS60C does not have it because your OTA tube length is 145mm vs the FS60CB which is 127mm (18 mm difference)
If you only need to move the camera back 18mm the the TKA 20006B will do that for you. They should be easy to find, Claude will definitely have them. I have one I can loan if you get caught out.

Pat ... one more check before we ' give up '

Take a look at the diagram ... your part number ' ( 82 in diagram ) comes ' after the CAA ( 6 in diagram )

Have a look....

Thanks Matt,
according to the FS 60c chart the sd is optional after the CAA.http://www.takahashi-europe.com/supp..._200709_en.png

As I cant quite get focus, I am thinking that this is what its telling me I need

Col, just a side note - I'd hang on to any extension tubes that allow your EPs to reach focus in straight-through mode (i.e. without diagonal).

Reason I'm saying this is that the FS60 is sufficiently short to use straight-through much more often than with larger scopes. Any observing below 60° I now do sans diagonal when using the little 60. Plus it might make a nice straight-through finder for the ES 162mm apo that you might end up geting one day
