Meade ETX105 UHTC

A sad decision but my beloved ETX105 has to succumb to aperture fever.
This is one of the last ETX105s to be made in USA with the Ultra High Transmission Coating on the lenses. It has the Autostar goto system which has been completely overhauled by Bintel. Included in the sale is Mike Weasner's manual, 'Using the Meade ETX', subtitled '100 objects you can really see with the mighty ETX', the sturdy field tripod, a solar filter, the original Meade Super Plossl 26mm eyepiece and a foam dew shield. The original aluminium foam lined case proved to be too cumbersome so I have replaced it with the illustrated plywood case. I may be able to find the aluminium case and if I can after 3 house moves, it will be included at no extra cost. The tripod has its own canvas zipped bag. An RDF has been fitted. I would prefer local pickup as the whole lot weighs 16kg. Asking $650 but this is negotiable

SOLD

Hi Graeme,

- Which part of Sydney are you located in?
- What size eyepieces does the scope accept?
- Is it just the 26 mm jobby? 1.25"?
- Is a foam dew shield just a camping mat?
- Is everything in working order at this point in time?

Thanks.
Ross.

G'day Ross,
I'm in Glenhaven
The ETX Series are all 1.25 and the eyepiece that came with the scope is the standard 26mm Super Plossl.
I made the dew shield from Clark Rubber 10mm semi rigid foam. I works very well.
Everything is in perfect working order now. I had a problem with power to the system and the control panel was replaced. All systems were tested, cleaned and checked by Bintel 2 years ago and I have hardly used it since. Meade have recently reintroduced the ETX, but I understand , only in the 90mm primary and made in China without the UHTC.

Why not!

Can you PM me as I cannot seem to send a pm that registers in my sent box. I understand that each site is different, but this one is doing my head in.
What ever happened to simply having a conversation?
Computer says "No".

FYI

There is a small checkbox under "Miscellaneous Options" that states: "Save a copy of this message in your Sent Items folder."

Tick that and you'll get a copy for confirmation.

Thanks OIC. I've already done that, but it keeps reverting back to the original setting for some reason. It's probably user error like most things

Really excited about getting my first real telescope. The family in the apartment upstairs includes a 14yo (who was almost as excited as his dad) so I'll definitely have some stargazing buddies to share the scope with.
Nice one.
