NGC 3293 Gem Cluster today's oldie image

I actually prefer the Gem to the Jewel Box.

P.S. Peter, were you able to orient your lunar views from my pointers?

Nice rendition Raymond. The Gem Cluster is my favourite open cluster.

Smile

Thanks Steve, it is also mine.
Thanks Peter, I get lost in the revolving door at the mall entrance.
Thanks Ray, see if you prefer this or the Jewel Box when it comes up.

Incidentally, this is also known as The Pendant in some quarters, as can
be seen if you invert the image. The two bright stars immediately above
it and another bright one further up makes it look a little like it is hanging from a chain.

As others have said, it is a lovely Open cluster and a favourite. Personally I like the spikes on the brighter stars, from the spider, gives a more sparkely appearance to the Gems.
Keep posting your oldies, never out of date.
