Cometary Motion

Hi all - I made a video from my capture subs of three different comets showing their relative movement compared to the background stars.
This animation received a Highly Commended at the 2020 Malin Awards in the "Animated Sequences: Scientific" category.

The three comets are 46P/Wirtanen (ie: the Christmas Comet of 2018), C/2020 F8 (Swan) and C/2019 U6 (Lemmon). As part of the video I've included details of the capture date and comets' perihelion distances. I used my stacked images for the background of the detail frames and the animations themselves are repeated 3 times for each so that you can see the movement better.

I'm not very happy about some compression artefacts resulting from the conversion to mp4 format so I'll probably have to investigate some other video format options for future videos. I'm not really up to date with the latest in codecs & video formats so if anyone has any advice on this I'd be grateful.
Because of the DMA category requirements, there's no soundtrack and it's probably best viewed in HD.

Thanks for looking,
Pete
