North Group ED127

Hi

Up for sale is my NorthGroup ED127

This is one of the original units imported from China directly by myself. I then imported the "upgraded" focuser to replace the original focused.

The merits of this scope are well known and have been frequently discussed on this forum.

My scope itself has very minor cosmetic mark or two- really not noticeable. The finder scope has some minor marks outside looks like these were made by the holder. The scope has been looked after as all scopes should with care. The battery in the finder scope is dead and I never bothered to replace

The foam in the original carry case is scuffed from the scope being taken in and out of the box

The original focuser is also included. You should know that the replacement focuser doesn't come to focus with many eyepieces. It is perfect for imaging with say a DSLR ( for deep space) or with a Imaging source camera (for say lunar imaging)which is what i have tended to use it for.

Most people have replaced the original focuser with a Moonlite which is what I should have done- I spent almost two thirds on the NorthGroup replacement focuser

I am selling because a. I do a lot more camera tracker work these days and haven't really used this scope in a long while and b. I am selling up and downsizing to an inner city unit

I am looking for $1100 negotiable if a reasonable offer is made

Pick up only from Sydney unless I cannot find a local buyer. I am concerned about how to post this fairly heavy piece of kit
A
Any questions please ask

I can usually reply only after work though

I should add an example of an image taken with this telescope

https://flic.kr/p/5fFYqc

I have hundreds of images on my Flickr account and this is perhaps the most popular with the greatest number of views

It was taken from my backyard using this scope and a modded Canon 450 D

Narayan,

Do you have full-size photo of the star field, so we can see how it behaves in corners of the frame?

All the photos I have are what I have in Flickr - I don't keep RAW frames or unprocessed, very remiss of me of course. I don't even keep the final tiff usually

So unfortunately all I have to share is all on display in my Flickr account. I pulled a few of these out

These are shot with the ED127 all in H alpha so probably from my backyard

Looking through the Flickr set makes me realise how little I used this telescope

I mentioned some cosmetic defects on the scope and finder
It's a light scratch on the OTA and some marks on the finder that must have come from the felt
