Centaurus A

This is my highest resolving Centaurus A image to date. The jet is there (above and to the right) and the star formation areas and the central dust lane shows some detail and a few minor Ha areas. There are knots of dust scattered further out as well. Plus a few little background galaxies are showing up.

CDK17 and Proline 16803 are a good match.

Have a look at the original size and swim around.

Ah huh! now I see it Really beautiful colour and shrunk to 50% it really looks great.....but...looking just a little closer it looks like you have chewed up the detail a tad in y're processing lad it's all granular and crunchy and the stars are just a tad eggy...I can see there must be cleaner detail in that there data maybe a repro...? Still, viewed at 50% none of that is visible and it looks awesome

Love Cen A though

Well it was pretty windy for 2 of the nights like 50kmh winds so I was happy there was so little egginess. What little there was is now fixed though
. As far as the detail/granular that is uh ooh Mike doesn't like decon. I personally like it as it is as its quite detailed, obviously not to your taste but hey, that's not firm ground.

Sorry you've lost your first to comment rights for 6 months!

Quite a deep image Greg, some nice faint ellipticals popping through the background
I wasn't sure if the egginess was there or being caused by my astigmatism Looks good though Greg!

I fixed the very minor egginess. I was happy that the scope was still able to give good data in the heavy winds over 2 nights. That wasn't the case when I used to have a closed tube RCOS 12.5 inch. Anything over about 8KMH affested the images.

I'd say that getting anything with heavy winds is pretty good!

Yes I was surprised I got useful data. The AP1600 is a very beefy mount.

A Nice and colourful image Greg. Well done.

Excellent relativistic jet, Greg. One of the better ones. And a huge improvement over your already good 2015 version.

Best,
MnT

Crisp stars Greg and some fine detail in the galaxy itself. My only criticism would be the very apparent noise mottling around each of the brighter stars, especially the one closest to the galaxy.

Looking forward to imaging this with the CDK when it eventually emerges from its crate.

Good job.

Cheers
Martin
