This fella is on the rare and endangered list. We are lucky enough to have a few come to our place every autumn to feed on our pine tree cones. The little buggers never clean up after themselves though. However I took this pic down on the coast near Yallingup and they were eating the seeds from the prickly pear bush.This one is a male identified by the red eye ring. The second pic is in our pine tree.
Great pics......yes they can eat like Vikings when visiting a backyard garden They are a impressive sight when flying in flocks with their distinctive calling
Good catch Rev they often feature in the Wildlife photo comps.Over here we have the Yellow-tailed and Red-tailed blacks the former being more common in NE NSW and also the Glossy Black.
Great pics,saw a couple down at Mt Barker when I was in WA a few years ago.
We have the familiar yellow tailed cockatoo here on the Sunshine coast hinterland,with a few red tailed now and again.
