Carina Christmas present....

While versions of the linked image have earned me a little kudos over time, I've only ever uploaded cropped colour versions onto the Web....and figured it was time
to upload the full field captured with my STX 16803 rig.

The link is here

Might make a nice screen saver

Sorry, in retrospect, my timing on the post was pretty ordinary, and not intended to draw comparisons. But thanks for your comment

Hi Peter - that's fantastic,
you've got the jets in the Herbig-Haro object
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped.../NGC_3372d.jpg
& the finger of God is clear too.
https://www.universetoday.com/wp-con...carina_hst.jpg

You're getting such extraordinary detail -
anyone would think you're living in the Atacama desert.

cheers
Allan

Who needs dark skies! Delightfully processed, and a lesson in sharpening without overdoing it.
Thanks for sharing Peter!
cheers,
Andrew.

Spectacular! So much detail - and beautifully processed. Gives some inspiration to those of us who also image from light polluted suburbs - but way too good for me.

Hi Peter,

Best I have ever seen, the detail, the fun zooming around looking at all the bits in high res. Very well done.

Cheers,
Damien.

Too kind Damien. Narrow band components really don't suffer at all from being an urban location...the H-alpha I managed to get was virtually unaffected by urban skyglow. Sure the RGB is trickier, but again, with brighter subjects, not impossible either.

In a nutshell: the finest image I have ever seen posted, at least in this forum.

Can see why that telescope costs so much money. I want one!

That is very kind of you H.....

As for the cost, unlike cars/boats, you only pay once, with little maintenance and or rapid depreciation to follow. No tinkering, mods or replacing bits were required.

It just worked as specified and in a world where so much stuff is built to a price rather than a specification, it’s a refreshing change.

A remarkable image Peter. The crystalline Hubblesque detail in the HH jets took my breath away.

Best,
Mike
