Horsehead and Flame Nebulae

Hi All,

My first post here, a photo taken back on the 14th of March.

The Horsehead and Flame nebulae, a slight stuff up on my part this was taken at ISO 4000 on my modified Nikon D7100, but it still turned out alright other than Alnitak and a few other bright stars being a little overblown.

10 x 300 sec Lights
12 x 300 sec Darks
10 x 1/8000 sec Bias
No Flats - was feeling lazy

Equipment - Orion 110mm f/7, HEQ5 Pro, Nikon D7100(modified), Orion field flattener.

Software - Deep Sky Stacker, Photoshop.

Let me know what you think!

Nice shot to post as your first Matt. It's always tough to tame the bright stars but I think you've done a great job on this one.

Welcome aboard Matt, a decent image of the Horsehead for your first post.. Try the "Shadows & Highlights" adjustment in Photoshop to tame the bright areas.
All the best on your journey.
Cheers,
Tony
