Focusing question for beginner

Hi all
A silly question: If I use AF to focus on the setting cresent moon at twilight then switch to MF. Does the DSLR focus on stars tag sharp for the rest of the night? I mean when moon in focus so will the stars.Right?

Yes, it would. You can also focus on a bright star and then switch to MF. Of course over the course of a night you are likely to bump the focus ring and lose your focus so you would have to keep on doing it.

Of course this method does not work for prime focus or eyepiece projection photography.
