How often do you use a focal reducer ??

Not sure if I want to hang onto the f/6.3 focal reducer Bintel sent me.....

For those with 2000mm SCT's - how often do your use a 6.3 to increase your FOV for imaging ?

I must say that the un-adjusted 2000mm FL matched the image size of 47Tuc perfectly - and I imagine for galaxy imaging even more FL might be handy.

For astrophotography in my f/10 SCT I use my f/6.3 focal reducer virtually 100%. For visual observing I never use it.

Grant...keep it....I'm even thinking about giving my 3.3 FR a go....it will shorter exposure times and give better results on most images you do with your 300d.

I sometimes use one for imaging with my sct but chose not to buy one, Made mine out of an achromatic lens salvaged from a spectroscope telescope . works well .Posted a message several months ago about it with comparison photos.
