Suggestions for a Coma Corrector for 8" F/4 and SBIG 8300C

I am looking for suggestions for a coma corrector / field flattener for use with a 8" f/4 Skywatcher Quattro and a SBIG 8300C CCD.

I have seen this at Bintel, SkyWatcher f4 Aplanatic Coma Corrector
https://www.bintel.com.au/product/sk...v=6cc98ba2045f

Is this suitable?

Thanks

Brendan

It looks very similar to the GPU corrector which is sold by TS in Germany. If it is this will be fine. I am using the GPU on an f3.8 12" and it works well. Watch the back focus distance though. You need to get this correct for proper correction.

I also have the skywatcher f4 Coma Corrector and it seems to do a great job when the back focus is correct. I have a Baader mark III Mpcc I can lend to you if you want to try that out first?

I have the GPU corrector, which I believe is the same as the Skywatcher Quattro coma corrector.

I find that, with my ASI1600 - which is roughly the same size sensor as your 8300 - if my collimation is spot on, I get round stars across the field.

I have been having trouble with coma, just testing out my 305mm quattro for the first time, too dependant on using my 130 refractor.I found that the corrector needs 54.66. will check again to see how it goes. I'm short .66 with my spacers I have.

Thumbs up to the Baader MPCC Mk3
Light weight , well designed and manufactured with quality optics
Not the cheapest coma corrector around but it works

Add another for a GPU from TS in Germany. Mine screws into a Moonlight focuser and a QSI 683 with only 2 adapters for the three threads, also from TS.

The spacing for the MPC-MkIII specify 55mm +/- 1mm
So yours would have the same tolerance. 0.66mm short will be OK I would think.

I'm using the baader. Anyone have experience with both as to how they compare?

I have both the Baader and the GPU correctors.

On my 10" F4 Skywatcher Quattro and QSI 683, the Baader is about half way between nothing and the GPU.

Coma is still present towards the edges and it is soft accross the board with the Baader.

The GPU's only weakness is vignetting, which is fixed with flats.

I now use the Baader only for visual use.
