Celestron Sky Portal App

Last night I spent quite a few hours trialling many different (free) apps for basic star navigation. Most were total crap but this one stood out as a clear winner.
You don't meed a Celestron scope to use the app.

I would highly recommend the Celestron Sky Portal app. as one of the best navigation aids out there...

The Celestron Sky Portal app is a custom version of Sky Safari, made for Celestron by Simulation Curriculum. The family of Sky Safari 5 apps (plain, Plus and Pro) is well regarded, and comes in iOS, macOS and Android versions.

As far as I know, all the features that were once exclusive to the Celestron version (like support for AstroFi scopes, audio commentary about objects) are now incorporated into Sky Safari 5 Plus and Pro.

The Celestron Sky Portal app is a reduced feature subset of Sky Safari 5. If you can afford the fully featured Sky Safari versions then its a better choice.
