Eye on Startools

Hi everyone, another Melbourne new moon hindered by cloud gave me the eeks so back to the drawing board - did some research and decided to try Startools as a new approach to processing. Till now I have been just using DSS and Photoshop. Well I must say there are options using Startools that I've found that have improved my images a little and the one that I like mostly is the star healing module that rounds my stars at the corners. All of my pics suffer from coma and since I haven't got around to acquiring a corrector this program seems to have remedied the issue somewhat. The other effective module is the denoising algorithm. It does a great job cleaning up my data and with the ease of star masking I've been able to add a bit of extra bite to the overall image too.

Below is the Helix that I have reprocessed from Winter this year 52 subs @ 30sec ISO 1600 . Check out the difference.

That's really nice!
But 'star healing' is starting to sound a bit new age ?

Thanks for your comments Rick, Mickoid and Chris.
I must say the terminology used in Startools - "healing" does have that new age connotation to it.
Let me say it has enabled me to use the full image field rather than resorting to cropping back. It's certainly brought the image closer to peace and harmony in the universe hehehe

Much to learn still with the order and process but seems an interesting program to use. Any tips I'd be appreciative.

The star correcting feature looks very handy and the colour tweaks you've made look great. It now has a softness where everything appears to just blend seamlessly together. Well done.

Thanks Lost in Space.
I was impressed with the result from that aspect. The denoising/grain slider does the trick. I could never quite tame the noise well enough using PS however I think Startools solved that component for my liking.
