Not the best of the season certainly. Though the "eyes" moment showed a little promise.

I still don't mind what is going on, they are obviously setting up for the finale and Christmas special and at the same time getting us used to Capaldi's quirks.
What is interesting is the setting up of Missy/The Gatekeeper of the Nethersphere and who she may be and what she is up to.

It does kind of feel like most of the series is filler for the conclusion but so what?
It's entertainment and I'm OK with that.

Capaldi is already my favourite Doctor since Sylvester McCoy and as for Moffats development of the story, well maybe he is trying to fit too much in but I'd take him on a bad day over RTD any time.
I wouldn't argue with someone new coming in after this story line though.

Well, that episode was rot!

As for the upcoming finale, how does Clara Oswald go from being the "impossible girl" to "never existing"? The sooner her and all her baggage are gone, the better.

On a lighter note, can wait to see where Missy fits into all of this.

After many years of D/W watching, and I mean many years from the William Hartnell days, I've given up as. One of the reasons is the effects are so bad in this series, actually they are back to the William Hartnell days. There was a scene with a train in a tunnel, well it was a Triang model train, this was ok in the 60's but now with CGI we are a long way past such CRAP.

I think the Doctor should fly around and perhaps pick up Leela or Leela's daughter (Leela being the scantily clad savage who wanted to knife everyone she met when travelling with Doctor No4 ).

In character style, she was the forerunner of Worf on the Enterprise. And Futurama's lead female was subsequently named Leela. From memory, Leela fell in love with someone on Galafrey and left the Doctor on good terms.

So now Cyber Men no longer need to get victims and strip them of their flesh and reprogram their minds? Instead, they just need to collect the thoughts of the newly dead.

Thus another preposterous episode.

Why not just collect the thoughts of one dead individual, reprogram the thoughts, and put them in a million or a billion Cybermen? Seems a lot simpler than this episode's elaborate set up, and it would achieve the exact same result.

Never dig too deep into the "logic" of Dr Who episodes... Besides the real reason for the episode was for the reveal of Missy (I was underwhelmed, but meh, I'll let it slide). The rest of the guff is to ensure they get to run around a bit in the next episode and get the happy ending (Danny Pink, etc).

My take, anyway.

Tonight's series finale I'd basically classify as some kind of chick flick.

Interesting was that at the start of the program Jenna Coleman got the star billing, followed by Peter Capaldi. Astounding.

ABC iView has some old Doctor Who serials from the 1970s-1990s available right. Watch them, and note the quality difference compared to today. Yes, the props and dodgy, and the SFX are almost non-existent, but it is real sci-fi and deals with interesting, management 'little' problems rather than 'save the universe every 5 min'. The current writers can learn a lot from that. Or take a break, as others have suggested.

I really do like Peter Capaldi as the Doctor, however!

Yes, I took advantage of watching the old DW's on iview. Much better drama than today's. I do prefer Capaldi to the more recent reloads as well. I thought "flatline" was the best of the season. Some of the seasons episodes were incredibly dumb.
