Solar Activity 16 Oct 2020

Managed to record the AR 2776 in WL, Cak and Ha.
AR 2775 appears as a bright faculae area just leaving the western edge.

Also a couple of small but interesting proms.
(Ha images to follow)

Nice images Ken. Thanks for sharing - I am a keen follower of your image posts.

I managed a white light visual observation yesterday between the clouds following your earlier heads up. It is indeed a complex spot with plenty to observe. The two trailing black specks were clearly visible. I had reasonable seeing and could observe plenty of fine detail through my 140mm refractor.

AR 2775 and AR 2776 in Ha

Steve,
Glad you managed to observe the AR 2776!
Yes, this is the time to dust off the solar filters and get some practice ahead of Cycle 25

These Ha images are certainly not the highest quality - I'm trying all different settings/ configurations to suppress the Newton Rings - not always successful!
The first two images are single stack and the last three are double stack for comparison.

Ken re your selection of Ha images I now see what the addition of double stacked Etalons can do for improving a surface image.
Thanks for posting

Gerard,
Thanks for the feedback....
The SS and DS basically had the same ImPPG processing.

Lovely sets of images Ken, especially like the 5th image in the Ha set, seems to have a 3D effect of the limb receding in the distance, away from the active area.

Thanks guys, appreciated.
I'd reiterate - now is a good time to try out and use those White Light filters.
I'm sure members with better seeing than I have, could get some very good images of AR2776.
