VIXEN VC200L VISAC Aspherical Mirror Astrograph

[/B]PRICE REDUCED

For Sale my much loved Vixen VC200L OTA with accessories - $1600 + Shipping

Please Note - The spider arms have been professionally milled down to 1.8mm thick which is substantially thinner than a standard VC200L which now produces brilliant images. My Vixen is in excellent condition and to replace as offered would cost in excess of $3200.

The legendary Vixen VISAC catadioptric design achieves a photographic field virtually free of aberrations. As coma, spherical and curvature of field are perfectly corrected, images are stunningly sharp.

Star images are less than 15 microns across all the way to the very edge of the 42mm photographic field circle employed in 35mm format imagers. It is a telescope truly designed for both visual and astrophotography.

The biggest complaint people have about the VC200L, VMC200L & R200SS is the thickness of the spider vanes.

They are 6mm thick and they donít need to be that thick. At 2mm they are still very strong and no detrimental effect can be seen regarding their ability to hold the secondary mirror in place, itís still rock solid.

By milling the spider vanes down to 2mm thick you gain extra aperture as well as less spiky stars. The milled spider vane on a VC200L is 75mm in length and 2mm in vane thickness is milled from each vane side. This removes 300 sq mm from each vane times 4 vanes equals 1200 sq mm of extra light reaching the mirror, in imperial terms is 1.86 sq inches which is almost the size of the secondary mirror.

The end result is more light reaching the mirror, smoother stars and even better astrophotography results with this modification.

Features a unique high precision sixth order aspherical primary mirror, a convex secondary mirror and triplet corrector lens. The primary is held in place by a retaining ring as opposed to hooks to decrease flare and enhance contrast.
