Back Yard Snap Shot

Just a quick pic snapped tonight just after sunset. Taken at maximum quality with some smoothing in post image processing and then resized. Digital Olympus 5.0 Mp camera on tripod.

Yes I'm still about and will attempt some July viewing challengs before the moon spoils the view.

Clear Skies to all

Foul Air?

Would that be the foul air from the fast food outlets that import their chickens rather than buying local.

I took one look and one breath tonight when I went outside. We are choking ourselves to death in this town in winter. I do have a wood heater that I fire up one or twice a week however i did purchase a smart burn tube as seen on the New Inventers earlier this week and apparently this reduces emmisions markedly.

Clear skies for you all

Micheal, do you realise that a very large proportion of the woodsmoke is being caused by forestry burnoff. Every time we get a patch of clear weather they do a regeneration burn and it's been going on since just after easter. Welcome to tassie;land of the long white eucalypt cigarrette....

If it's any consolation, we at the other end of the country suffer a similar problem, though from a different cause.

Just when the nights start to get cool and the seeing starts to get crisp, it becomes sugar cane season.

For me this is a serious dilemma - I hate the smoke as it effects my sky views, but i love the end product - Bundaberg Rum

Yes life is all about trade offs. as much as we aspire to a perfect world ultimately everything we do impacts on someone else in ways not usually apparent.

Unfortunately Michael, I don't call six months plus of burning eyes, nose and throat, and the possible associated health problems, a trade off....
