Wolf in the Fold

An American Werewolf in Scorpio?
Lol - this dark nebula near the Dark Tower is known as SL 17.

Not very often imaged, but Paul Haese did a nice version a few years ago.
Sure looks like a wolf though!

Ha RGB from my backyard in Melbourne.

10 hrs Ha 1800 secs
1 Hr ea. RG&B 300 secs

GSO collimation has been slightly improved, but there are still some issues to resolve, as the stars arn't quite round all over the frame...
Got some 1 & 2mm spacers on order to help get the flattener fine tuned at the edges as well.

Technical issues aside, I'm having a nice time playing with the longer FL

Nice result there Andy, slight technical issues aside, good to hear you are having fun with the new scope too With this one, I have always switched between seeing a Wolf and seeing an Eagle landing with its talons out...?

From up here in the Central West it's a flaming dragon's head, and it's magnificent.

The Wolf seen again. Nice rendition Andy. I really like the scale too. Certainly more detail visible than my image.

Very nice Andy! The image scale (much bigger than my version taken in 2013) yields excellent nebular detail and the shock fronts in front of the snout are very clear . Nice work!

Eagles, Wolves - predators alike & both deserving of their place in the sky

Cheers Paul, hoped you would see this one as it was your great image a few seasons ago that registered very favourably with me.
I filed it away in the “Must have a go at that target one day file!”
Glad I didn’t let you & the Wolf down

A fantastic image Andy. You have the dusty areas popping and the wolf silhouette really stands out. Good star colours as well.

Greg.

Many thanks Greg!
It’s a balancing act shooting under LP.
Would love to try this under a dark sky.

Then again, Werewolves only come out under the full moon
