Good idea
The only drawback is, the water tank can't be used any more after installation of this gadget as water tank.
I will think about it .... I still need to see how well the current setup behaves in terms of condensation (so far so good - but it is pretty dry recently, so the situation may change in the future).

Do you happen to have the plans for the adapter plate by chance?

Michael, Bojans idea makes me think immediately of a couple of other things.

1. We have a decent sized black plastic garden compost bin (cheap as, from Bunnings) which would fit over a pier, the attraction being the open bottom is wider than the top and it has a convex plastic lid that will keep water out, and twists off. A bit hard to tell from Bojans pic but I'm fairly sure the compost bin is wider than the thing Bojan tried.

2. Got a spare wheelie bin ? Take the lid off, and upend it. Possibly rather heavy though.

Nick,
my mount cover is just a bit wider than EQ6 mount (with counterweight shaft retracted and DEC in horizontal position, suspended with wooden stick), that means ~40-50cm.
When I was finishing my pier, this water tank was the only suitable option at Bunnings (it is not available any more).
Compost bin you are mentioning may be a better option for smaller OTA.

It is ~10 min job to attach the scope counterweight and C11 and be ready to go for the task.
