Movie Choices...

I’ve watched both The Right Stuff and 2001 A Space Odyssey with my lovely partner. Fair to say she was under-awed by both. She’s not home tonight so I have the opportunity to watch either. Not both unfortunately.

Which would you choose?

Hi Les,

I'd watch 2001.

For a start, it is arguably the only movie worthy to be permanently on show
alongside the great masters in the Louvre.

But great art is not valued by everyone and some will find it impenetrable.

That way you can accidentally watch The Right Stuff again when your
partner is there. It is more accessible and you can simply mutter that
it is in the popular main-stream action hero genre.

Thanks Gary. I’ve watched both many times and fortunately read the book behind 2001 so I agree with your points. Though I thoroughly explained the concepts behind 2001 to my lovely lady it is more difficult to grasp for those who’ve not got the understanding underlying it when they see it first time.

On your artistic point: 2001 was the first Blu-ray movie I ever bought. When I walked into the shop and asked if it was available on Blu-ray the very young salesman instantly replied “If not it should be!”
