Custom White Balance for DSLR

I've dug out my 350D that I had modified by Peter Tan in HK. But I can't remember what to do about customising white balance. Anyone?

Take a shot of a white wall or kitchen cabinet in bright daylight, but don't overexpose. Then in many Canons when you go to set a custom white balance it will ask you to select an image for reference.
