Basic Fits Viewer Software program

Just started using a ZWOASI2600MC with APT and used DSS to review subs as APT only provides thumbnails ( DSS is a primitive way of reviewing subs )
I’m after a Fits viewer ( like Windows viewer with my Canon RAW files ) to review my subs and then load them into DSS for stacking
I don’t really want to use another capture software , so just a Fits viewer would be more practical
Any advice on a suitable basic Fits viewer program would be appreciated

Thanks

Astap is free and is quite good for previewing fits files. It opens them fast and has a fits thumbnail viewer if you want to compare a whole bunch.

Thanks for the advice
I downloaded it today and spent some time sorting out how to adjust the histogram to the desired view for inspecting and leave the image zoomed in whilst scrolling through each one
The only issue I have is that you can’t minimise the windows file browser , you can make it smaller and push it to the top corner , but if you close it , you can’t zoom in and scroll each file or image with the keyboard up down buttons
Unless you have a method or work around ?
Here’s my procedure which works ok except for the window file browser issue

ASTAP Fits file viewer procedure

Open ASTAP
Click on small arrow box
Load your Fits files from designated folder
Select a Format ( Preview FITS files )
Click on 1st file and press Open
Zoom image out to desired view using mouse wheel and set the 2 histogram levels to set contrast and brightness to your desired view
Press arrow box again
Move files window away to the top RHS
Click on 1st file or image again
Use keyboard up down buttons to scroll through and check each image for satellite trails , eggy or oval stars and other issues or artifacts.
When finished close files window and close ASTAP

A handy tool to have is the Main Sequence Fits Image Grader app, and it's free. I have used it for years to pre rank subs using a number of metrics.

https://www.mainsequencesoftware.com...ageGrader.html

This tool will run through a complete file of subs and grade each one. It can rename low quality files for deletion or review.
