Be vewee vewee quiet we're hunting galaxies
Just a teaser of a project I have going at present. NGC253 or the silver coin. Not like anyone else has thought of doing this lately.
Just a mere 10 hours on this luminance channel so far. I have been chasing down a weird interference pattern caused by an EM source in my observatory. So while chasing that down I thought I would use NGC253 as the test subject.

Looks like an excellent start there Paul!
Is this full frame? Not seeing any sign of residual curvature.

Thanks Freddo. Still some bugs to fix yet, but trying to image along the path to perfection.

Yep full frame and with a flattener. I used a TS 3" RC flattener. I have resampled the image down to 2800 wide, but only to make for a slightly more pleasing view.

Looks like that flattener is working a treat. Those stars look perfect!
I've got 3 hours with the same framing so will be interesting to compare results
mine will have to wait till the next new moon though. Work & travel.

Yeah I have stopped for this cycle too. Now doing NB on another target. The flattener is working ok but needs some tweaking yet. Yes it will be interesting to compare, though I doubt a 5K scope is much of a comparison to a 20K scope.

Paul,
Astonishingly sharp detail in the outer parts of the galaxy. Superb! Can't see the wabbit yet.
Best,
Mike

10 hours of luminance? Unnecessary IMHO but it's a top image.
Cheers

Nice Image, and gives me a good idea of what I can espect of my new 12" GSO RC... Although I am still fighting with triangular shaped stars...

Paul,
That looks fantastic! Is the EM present in that shot? I don't really know what I should be looking for.
