Siding Springs 25th Sep

First clear night in weeks and Ob is out of action due to weather damage but I remounted the 80mm f11.3 on the AZ tripod and chased down Siding Springs C/2013 A1.

It was squaring off a tiny triangular asterism between HIP 87950 and HIP 88152. No discernible tail, just a small fuzz ball. Watched it long enough to detect a fraction of motion between it and star that was in it's coma when I first looked but had definitely moved out of it by the time I finished. Not visible in the 8 x 50 finder, easily seen in the 20 and 15mm GSO SV. 10mm plossl too dim to see anything useful.
Transparency about 3, seeing about 4, stable with thin high ice crystals I suspect.
The cat thought it was great fun, tried to sleep on my chest when I first went out with the binos and was laying on the ground searching.
